Project Story
The Landscape Architects at Bennett Architecture designed and managed the construction of the regional landmark park for a new Palmerston suburb, in Zuccoli. The Regional play space design maximises site amenity and connectivity with the surrounding suburb linking the park to the hike and bike trails. The park includes a tower play structure with over 20+ activities for a multitude of age groups to play together. The amenities also include a double flying fox for people to race each other through the course. The whole play space is set in a treed and garden environment for cooling and connection to nature. For families to stay and play longer there are barbecue, picnic settings, seats and a large, grassed area for informal games.
The playground design was tall and brightly coloured to facilitate it becoming an identity beacon for prospective land purchasers to find the adjoining display homes for the newly minted subdivision. Its proximity to the display homes with managed traffic conditions also allowed children to play while parents walked through the gated and secure environment of the park and homes.
Eight years on the playground is a vital part of the public realm of the region and a much loved community space
