Catherine Booth House
Catherine Booth House in Stuart Park, Darwin, is a Salvation Army refuge providing emergency and short-term accommodation and support services for women experiencing domestic and family violence. Bennett Architecture developed concept designs for a proposed redevelopment, including new administration and accommodation buildings, improved support facilities, accessible housing options, and thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces that promote safety, wellbeing, and community.

Project Story
Catherine Booth House, located in Stuart Park, Darwin, is a Salvation Army–operated refuge that provides short-term and emergency accommodation for women experiencing domestic and family violence. In addition to accommodation, staff offer support and assistance to women seeking access to relevant services.
Bennett Architecture developed concept designs to support a grant application for the redevelopment of the site. The proposal includes the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of new administration and accommodation facilities.
The proposed administration building will accommodate management offices, staff amenities, and dedicated program spaces. The new accommodation building will provide a range of bedroom configurations, including accessible options, together with shared cooking, dining, laundry, and recreational facilities.
The landscape design incorporates both communal and private outdoor areas, creating safe and supportive spaces that contribute to residents’ wellbeing.
