Project Story
Bennett Architecture was commissioned in 2010 to lead the master planning and design brief for the major redevelopment of Nemarluk Special Needs School in Alawa. Collaborating closely with Darwin-based architect Hully Liveris, a comprehensive masterplan was developed to transform the school into a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
The project proceeded under a design and construct contract with PTM Group, with Bennett Architecture responsible for detailed design and coordination throughout. The $12 million redevelopment focused on creating tailored spaces that support the diverse physical, sensory, and learning needs of students. Upon completion, the project received widespread praise from staff, families, and the broader school community for its child-centred, accessible design.
PTM Group was awarded the MBA NT Principal’s Award, along with several other accolades, recognising the high-quality delivery of the project. The new facilities at Nemarluk School continue to support a nurturing and empowering educational experience for all students
