Smith Street Walkway
Bennett Architecture designed the Smith Street Walkway for the City of Darwin, creating a shaded, safe, and vibrant pedestrian link between the CBD and Waterfront. The design embraces tropical urbanism with integrated shading, seating, and landscaped areas for comfort and social interaction. Public art by local artists adds cultural identity and character, transforming an underutilised corridor into an inviting civic space that promotes walkability and community engagement while reflecting Darwin’s unique urban identity.

Bennett Architecture designed the Smith Street Walkway for the City of Darwin as a vital and iconic pedestrian link connecting the Darwin CBD to the Waterfront precinct.

Designed with tropical urbanism in mind, the structure provides much-needed respite from the sun with integrated shading elements that create comfort throughout the day.
